Sho Konishi Spring/Summer 2025 Collection: "Being Moved"

Sho Konishi’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, Being Moved, is an exploration of movement—both physical and emotional. Inspired by the transition to a new studio and the emotions accompanying this significant life change; this collection speaks to the different ways we experience "movement". Through couture techniques, Sho Konishi continues his motif of using up-cycled material, reflecting the emotional resonance of objects that may seem like trash but carry the weight of memories.

Movement as Performance
This season, Sho Konishi debuts his first official NYFW presentation, which takes the form of a performance with the dynamism of dancers and singer, where music, dance, and vibrations ripple through people, stimulating emotions and energy. Sho Konishi captures this in both the design and the presentation, while the models remain physically still, contrasting to the dancers, the cold movement and the silent can also be seen as an expressions of stillness that is also motion.

Ready-to-Wear: A Diary of Everyday Movement
The ready-to-wear pieces function as a diary of daily life, encapsulating the essence of travel, transitions, and the emotional rollercoaster of being "forced to move"—whether in a good or bad way. Each look reflects the act of moving to new places with items such as moving cart and plastic wraps, while also being an homage to the phycological journey we go through. Upcycled elements like crushed cans from the streets, duct tape, and plastic wrap are incorporated into the collection, symbolizing the preservation of movement. These materials, associated with relocation and transition—packing and moving boxes are transformed into fashion. It's a tribute to capturing memories through motion, in the context of both environmental and personal shifts.

Air and Water: The Medium of Movement
Air and water are central themes in this collection— water bottles and air circulation jacket represent the unseen yet deeply felt forces of movement and vibration. The concept of “hydration in a campy way” plays with cooling, refreshing designs that mimic the sensation of air circulation—work uniforms with inflating, air-filled elements that regulate temperature from within.
